Water Storage Calculator

Calculate how much water your household needs to store for emergencies. The standard recommendation is one gallon (3.8 liters) per person per day for drinking and sanitation.

Understanding Water Storage

The one gallon per person per day guideline covers both drinking water and basic sanitation needs. In hot climates or during physical activity, you may need more. Children, nursing mothers, and people with certain health conditions may also have higher requirements.

Store water in food-grade containers away from direct sunlight. Commercially bottled water can be stored for 1 to 2 years. Tap water stored in clean containers should be rotated every 6 months.
